- THE QUALITY OF CHROMING IS CRITICAL-
The quality of chrome dipping or plating is crucial. If you use a low-end chrome plating, the porosity or pinholes in the finished piece are worse than if no plating was used at all because the underlying steel will rust. Poor-quality chrome plating that shows tiny rust spots is the definition of defect. Ogden Chrome
specializes in high quality triple plate chrome that begins with copper, then nickel and finally, hexavalent chrome. Hexavalent chromium has a stronger resistance to corrosion and when coupled with our painstaking process, the overall finish and quality is unbeatable.
Of course show chrome is our first love but copper or nickel plating are also featured options that Ogden Chrome
has perfected. To take the effect even further, we offer variations in brushed, bright or our own unique "blasted" finish. A brushed finish has visible parallel strokes while the bright finish is like looking in a mirror.
Our custom, blasted finish is a new variation that we have recently developed and works best with a copper or nickel plating. This technique gives the metal a sparkle but without a reflection combined with a brushed finish only without the strokes. This finish has become one of our most popular choices for a copper or nickel plating as it gives your part the look of a perfectly preserved antique.
Our price points are divided into three categories.
The prep process for all three are the same & the difference lies in the final plating process.
Show Plating
Our show option is a high quality choice for vehicles requiring that perfected look. If your part has any imperfection after its final plating, it will be run through the process again until it is flawless.
Concours Plating
The concours option is the highest quality choice. It doesn't matter if the part requires multiple re-processes, the part will leave our shop looking flawless.
Street Plating
Our street option is our most affordable plating choice available. Once the part has been prepared through the copper and buffering stage it is plated with the chosen finish. If imperfections remain, the part will not be re-processed.
